Day 12 27/1/2015
This afternoon we went to seeĀ theĀ gardens of a hotel called Makaranga. The place was beauitful! I took some of the photos of what the garden looks like (Well Kieron took some of them too).
Day 11 26/1/2015
Monday morning has come and we have only a few days left before we have to packed up and drive back down to Cape Town. The few days we decided to make the most of what we had. I wanted to go to Nothingham Road for the day. On the way we stopped by where Nelson Mandela was caught and sent to prison during appartheid. When stopped at Nottingham Road Hotel for lunch and then afterwards we went to look for Micheal House. Unfortuantly we couldn’t get into the grounds because school was in.
Once we got back to Durban. We went to the airport to watch the Swallows come into rest. It was amazing! The sky was getting dark with storm cloudes. Driving back home in a storm is kind of scary but arrived back safely. We had a late dinner and went to bed. Got a busy few days left.
Day 10 25/1/2015
This morning we went to the gym and had a late breakfast of scones. Then we headed out to one of Durban’s Botonical Gardens and to visit the stadium. I have been to the gardens before but it was raining so going there in the sunshine was lovely. I also was driven alround places I have never been before. Anyway back to the gardens, we walked around and I let Kieron use my camera now usually that is a good and bad idea because he takes good photos but he takes about 5 of the same thing and I have to edit them. We ended up have lunch here as well.
Day 9 24/1/2015
So today is the day we drive up the Sani Pass. We got up early (way to early for being on holiday for my liking) and we got eveything together but then had to wait for Kieron’s friends to arrive. At last we all pilled into Ron’s car and away we went to Lesotho. We picked up breakfast on the way. The tour left at 9:00 am and we arrived about 15 mins before then. I changed into warmer clothes and we grabbed our jackets and buddled into a 4×4 and set off. There had been a lot of rain in that area a few weeks before hand and the pass was badley damaged. Luckily we made it to the top but a 4×4 bukkie got stuck half way up with guide and his passengers. We think they walked up or managed to get a lift.
At the top we went to Besotho village and tried some of there home made bread and beer and bought a few things. We then went to the highest pub in Africa for lunch. On the way down again was more scary and for some on known reason we got down safely and back into South Africa. It really was an adventure!
Day 8 23/1/2015
Today is Friday and this evening we will be celebrating both Ron and I engagement and his turning the big 30! Not much happened happend during the day.
So when the evening came we got dressed to go out at this place called Stokers Arms (A bit like Forries) to meet everyone. Not that I knew anyone there. It was fun I must admit. It was an old railway station. It was really nice. Unfortuanlly we didn’t stay too late because we had to get up early the next morning to go up the Sani Pass.
Another adventure!!
Day 7 22/1/2015
Today was gyming and chilling. Trying to recover from the hectic last few days we had. I didn’t feel to good so I slept most of the day. Plus tomorrow and the weekend was going to be hectic.
So until tomorrow’s adventures:)
Day 6 21/1/2015
We both woke up to been very hyper active. One from the engagement the night before and the next one it was my fiance’s 30th birthday (I still can’t believe I can say that!) So early morning of opening presents and coffee before getting ready to go for breakfast and phone more people. Since the signal wasn’t that great I ended up messaging people first before phoning them because it keep cutting off. My mom also kept on phoning me and I had to hold my phone away from me sometimes becasue she was so excited.
Enough about engagement for now. After breakfast we went back to our cottage and packed up and slowly drove back to reception, bought somethings and checked out.
On the way home we stoppped of at the school where Kieron’s mom works to tell and show her the good news. In 5 mins the whole school knew of course:) It was a day of celebrations! Very happy celebrations!!
Day 5 20/1/2015
At around 5;00 am Kieron wakes me up and decides to go early morning game driving before breakfast. I wasn’t too happy about that, but it was worth while in the end becasue we saw some game. It was very misty, raining and the some of the roads where a bit muddy. We managed to get to breakfast before it ended. The rest of the day was farily chilled and around 4:00 pm we drove to a game/bird hide to see aninmals. Unfortuantly there were no animals or birds since the water hole was very dry even though it was still misty and raining. On the way out of the hide we heard a hynea call. It was one of the most scariest things ever, since it sounded quite close to the hide. At last we managed to get back into the car and get back to camp. We showered and got ready to go to dinner. After dinner Kieron dragged me out to the viewing deck which looks out to the rest of the park. It was very dark and misty but it was still very beautiful and could I possibly say romantic? Yes it was. While I was looking at the view I asked Kieron something and when I turned around to face him. He was on his knee. Yes, he asked me to marry him! I was in such shock it took me a while but without a stutter, I said yes! He asked me underneath this tree. It was one of the most romantic things someone has ever given to me or asked me. Trust me I was bouncing up and down all night. I don’t think I barely slept:) š š
I can’t wait to spent the rest of my life with Kieron Thwaites, the love of my life and my best friend.
Day 4 19/1/2015
This morning we got up early (well the sun rises earlier than Cape Town) and packed up and headed off to the park. I was really excited since I have never been there before. Driving there I was amazing how many trees there were big and small. Everywhere is freeways. After a couple of hours and with a stop at Wimpy for lunch and a change of drivers we arrived at the park.
One of the many animals we saw during the first day. This included Rhino, giraffe and buffilo, etc. We arrived late into Hilltop Camp because of a certain buffilo who decided to take his time and wouldn’t get off the road.
Day 3
18/1/2015
Today just considered of unpacking and going food shopping for our few days in Hilltop Camp Hluhluwe Game Reserve. Other chores as well. Nothing much exciting happened expected I saw nearly all the shopping malls in Durban. I found Durban full of hills and it seems to take time to get to these placces. Oh and I seem to get lost in that town maybe because of all te hills and freeways and there is also no mountain to guided one.
Then that evening we packed our clothes in one bag, packed up the dry goods and got the cold stuff together in the fridge.
So here is to another part of a adventure in an adventure!
